Canon EU-V2 2 Extension Unit
The Canon EU-V2 2 Extension Unit mounts to your C500 Mark II camera and provides a V-mount battery holder for power as well as ports that expand your camera's capabilities. The extension unit adds five ports: Genlock/Sync Out, Remote B (RS-422), Ethernet, DC Out (24V, 2A) and a lens control port. This unit extends your C500 Mark II to operate as a full-format production camera, adding two 3-pin XLR connectors for audio input. The V-mount battery plate incorporates a D-Tap output to power accessories.
The Genlock/Sync Out port accepts a genlock signal that synchronises your camera to the same time base as other equipment receiving the genlock signal. The Remote B port allows you to control your camera using the RS-422 protocol, whilst the Ethernet port allows you to connect your camera to a LAN network for control and live streaming applications. The DC out port provides power for accessories, whilst the lens control port allows you to interface with certain selected lenses. The ports are fitted with rubber caps to protect the connectors from dust when not in use.
. - Genlock is the foundation of live production/broadcasting as it ensures that all production equipment, cameras and mixers, operate in phase with one another. This prevents frame jumps or black frames when switching from one source to another.
. - The extension unit can power its ports as well as your camera via the integrated V-mount. However, you cannot power the adapter from the camera, as the XLR connectors, the DC power port and the lens port can only be powered by a V-mount battery and not by the camera body.
