FreeStyle/GT 31 LED Fixture
The Kino Flo FreeStyle 31 LED unleashes your creative side by using a quick release system to remove the LED panel from the plastic housing. The smaller form factor and lightweight LED panel combined with four corner protectors add greater mounting versatility. The LED panel also includes an additional adapter plate so it can still be mounted on a stand. The Kino Flo FreeStyle 31 and 21 LEDs include three menu options, one white and two colour menus. Those who prefer to work with white light can use the "white menu" which gives the user access to Dimming, Kelvin and Green/Magenta control channels. The Kelvin range goes from 2700K tungsten to 6500K daylight.
MTP-BG41S mount with short Baby (16 mm) receiver.
The Kino Offset with Baby receiver, MTP-B41F (sold separately) can be used to centre the weight and balance of the fixture on a stand. It can also be suspended under a baby stand for low-angle use. A Baby ballast mount (MTP-BAL1) is available as an accessory. The MTP-BAL1 can be used with a Mafer clamp to mount the controller on a stand, for example.
The FreeStyle 151 DMX LED Controller
The FreeStyle 151 DMX LED controller includes cutting-edge features; variable adjustable colour temperature control; full dimming; programmable presets; three menu options, one white and two colour menus. The "white menu" gives the user access to Dimming, Kelvin and Green/Magenta control channels. The Kelvin range goes from 2700K to 5500K. In the first colour menu, the Kelvin range goes from 2500K tungsten to 9900K daylight and Kino Flo has implemented a fourth channel called Gel. The Gel channel includes Kino Flo presets such as blue and green screen, sodium vapour, mercury vapour and over 100 well-known lighting gels.
In addition, there is also a fifth channel called Hue Angle and a sixth channel, Saturation. These two channels behave similarly to a traditional colour wheel, where you have white light in the centre, the hue angle determines the colour over a 360-degree range and saturation determines the amount of colour applied. The second colour menu offers individual control of red, green and blue (RGB). This menu is an excellent way to work with applications that have RGB presets or predetermined colour wheels. It operates flicker-free and does not change colour temperature during dimming. Light levels are consistent across the entire Kelvin range. The controller can be used remotely with a 7.5 m extension cable or can easily be attached to the back of the FreeStyle LED fixture with hook-and-loop fasteners. With built-in DMX and Lumen Radio receivers, the FreeStyle LEDs can be controlled via DMX or wireless DMX with automatic DMX termination. The energy-efficient FreeStyle 151 DMX LED controller operates on universal input voltage of 100-240 VAC at only 1.25 A (120 VAC) (FreeStyle 31) or can also operate on 24 VDC using only 6.25 A.
Power Supply
AC Input
- The FreeStyle 151 DMX LED controller is AC powered and includes an IEC connection. The controller includes universal 100-240 VAC input.
DC Input
The FreeStyle 151 DMX LED controller can also operate on 24 VDC (input range 18-36 VDC) via a 3-pin XLR. The pin polarity is:
- Pin No. 1 - Ground
- Pin No. 2 - +18-36 VDC
- Pin No. 3 - Not used
Block Battery/KF21
The KF21 battery can power 28.8 V applications (20-34 VDC). Runtime for the FreeStyle 21/31 LED is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes at full brightness. When the fixtures are dimmed, the battery will last longer. Charging time is only 1.5 hours compared to approximately 4 hours to fully charge lithium batteries. Unlike lithium batteries, the Kino Flo/BlockBattery is also suitable for travel without transport restrictions. The Kino Flo/BlockBattery system includes a Mafer mount, BAT-MM1, with 28.8 V output and a 3-pin XLR, 0.9 m. The battery slides onto the mount and attaches to a Mafer clamp. The 3-pin XLR cable connects to the FreeStyle 151 DMX LED controller.
DMX Operation
The FreeStyle 151 DMX LED operates on three DMX channels (in White mode) using DMX512 (six DMX channels in Colour mode). The first channel controls dimming; the 2nd channel controls Kelvin colour temperature; the 3rd channel controls hue. In Gel/Colour Hue mode: the 4th channel controls Gel; the 5th channel controls hue angle and the 6th channel controls Saturation. In RGB Colour mode, the 4th channel controls Red; the 5th channel controls Green and the 6th channel controls Blue.
Wireless operation
The FreeStyle 151 DMX LED controller includes a built-in Lumen Radio receiver and can be used wirelessly with a Lumen Radio transmitter (sold separately). Wireless is an alternative to using DMX cables.
The FreeStyle Extension Cable
Up to 15 metres (2 x 7.5 m) of extension cable can be used between the light and the controller.
Light Control
In addition to the plastic grids, another option for light control is a Flozier available in half-stop. The Flozier attaches to the barn doors and can be adjusted in various configurations.
Honeycomb Grid
Light diffusion is controlled using thin-walled honeycomb grids. The advantage of these honeycomb grids is minimal light loss. The FreeStyle LED fixtures include a 90-degree honeycomb grid. A 60-degree honeycomb grid is also available as an accessory. They are lightweight and attach to the fixture

FreeStyle 31 LED Fixture
The FreeStyle LED fixture includes integrated barn doors and consists of a removable LED panel and honeycomb grid. The honeycomb grid is held in place by hook-and-loop fasteners. The LED panel can be removed from the fixture housing by pressing the locking pin and turning the thumbscrew. The fixture has a stud mounting plate to accept a stud mount. The LED panel also has a stud mounting plate to accept a removable stud mount and features moulded corners for additional rigging options.
Mounting
One of the design features of the FreeStyle LED fixture is the removable centre stud mount. Once in place, the fixture easily mounts onto a lighting stand; once removed, the fixture is flat and can be hand-held or concealed in a space too small for a stand-mounted fixture. When the mount is removed, the eyelets along the edge of the fixture are designed to allow the fixture to be screwed to the wall or ceiling. The remote controller can also be attached to the back of the fixture with hook-and-loop fasteners or operate remotely with an extension cable. The removable FreeStyle LED panel also has its own mounting plate to accept the stud mounting plate. The LED panel can be hand-held with the KinoGrip mount and also has moulded corners as rigging points for suspension by rope, for example. The standalone Gaffer Tray (FIX-F21T) is an accessory, sold separately. The Gaffer Tray holds the removable LED panel. The centre KinoGrip mount and LED controller can be attached. The tray allows for a more compact fixture without having to fold the plastic barn doors. When the mount and controller are removed, the tray can be screwed to the wall or ceiling through its mounting points. The standard mount comes with a KinoGrip mount with Baby receiver (MTP-BG41) that mounts on a baby stand. The ball joint allows the fixture to be oriented over a wide range of angles. With the KinoGrip, the lightweight fixture or removable LED panel can be hand-held. There is also a short version and a 3/8" stud mount available as accessories. The yellow wire loops are there to provide attachment points for a safety chain. Mounting options include the MTP-KG41 mount with 3/8" (10 mm) stud;

FreeStyle 151 DMX LED Controller
The LED controller for the Kino Flo Select 21 and 31 fixtures is a detachable controller for the Select 21 or Select 31 LED heads. The controller can be mounted to the back of the lamp head or used remotely up to 25' with an optional extension cable. It allows the fixture to produce consistent light levels across the variable range of 2500 to 9900K in the Colour menu. The White menu has adjustment channels for Dimming, Kelvin temperature and Green/Magenta. The Colour menu provides access to Gel, Hue Angle and Saturation channels. The Gel channel includes presets such as blue and green screen, sodium vapour, mercury vapour and over 100 well-known lighting gels. The Hue Angle and Saturation channels work like a traditional colour wheel with a 360-degree colour range and choice of colour intensity. The detachable controller features a display screen for menu navigation and information display, as well as physical buttons for navigation and adjustments. This wired DMX controller is complemented by wireless DMX, provided by Lumen Radio. It can accept worldwide AC power and can also be DC powered via a 3-pin XLR connector.
