Sonnet SF3 Series RED Mini-Mag Card Reader with Thunderbolt 3
The Sonnet SF3 Series RED MINI-MAG card reader allows you to offload up to two RED MINI-MAG cards simultaneously via a single Thunderbolt 3 port. Ingestion speed can reach 1060 Mb/s for each card. The reader features two 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports, with the second allowing daisy-chaining of up to five additional Thunderbolt devices or up to three RED MINI-MAG card readers. The card reader features a robust and stackable aluminium design, allowing you to chain three units in the same footprint and offload six cards simultaneously via a single Thunderbolt 3 cable.
This dual-card reader is RED-approved and offers an efficient solution at a time when capture resolutions and file sizes continue to increase. With its portable and durable design, it can be used in the studio or in the field to transfer data to any Thunderbolt 3-compatible Mac, Windows or Linux computer. Additionally, two units can be rack-mounted side by side in a 1U space using dedicated threaded mounting points beneath each unit. For older Mac users, Thunderbolt 3 connections are backwards compatible with Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt using an optional Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter.
The RED MINI-MAG card reader also includes USB 3.1 Gen 2 10 Gb/s support. This allows you to connect a USB device to the second Thunderbolt port using the appropriate cable or adapter, sold separately. Additionally, the card reader fully supports the connection of 4K and 5K displays at 60 Hz. One 4K monitor is directly supported. Two 4K monitors require either a 4K monitor with Multi-Stream Transport support (DisplayPort output) or a Thunderbolt 3 to Dual DisplayPort adapter. A 5K monitor requires a Thunderbolt 3 to Dual DisplayPort adapter. For connected devices requiring more power, 15W is provided to bus-powered Thunderbolt 3 devices, such as the SF3 Series CFast 2.0 Pro card reader.
