The Tiffen 4.5" Round Black Pro-Mist 1/4 filter helps to reduce highlight values whilst slightly lowering overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for smoothing and softening facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or blur filter, Pro-Mist filters provide little loss of detail across the image. The 1/4 density provides very slight contrast and highlight reduction, allowing for soft, pastel light quality.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
