Tiffen Smoque 1/4 4 x 5.65" Filter
 
The Tiffen Smoque 1/4 4 x 5.65" filter can be used to simulate the presence of smoke in a frame or scene. It can replace typical theatrical smoke generators such as cookies, chips, pellets, grenades or smoke aerosols. This filter can also be used in conjunction with these smoke generators to help achieve a consistent appearance of smoke, particularly if wind or other conditions prevent physical smoke from settling or remaining in a frame or scene. The use of physical smoke is associated with the release of solid particles into the air. By reducing or eliminating the release of these particles, a more predictable and comfortable photo or filming set can be maintained.
This filter has a density of 1/4. Densities 1/8, 1/2, 1, 2, 3 and 4 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in density number.
The Tiffen Smoque 1/4 4 x 5.65" filter is made from optical glass for optimal clarity and colour fidelity, and is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4 mm thick, 4 x 5.65" rectangular filters. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
