The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Water White Natural IRND 1.2 filter is an ND filter with a 16x filter factor that provides a 4-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.2 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower exposure time than would normally be required. By slowing down your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can more easily control depth of field and convey movement. Neutral density filters are designed not to affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
The design of this filter has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote near-uniform attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to the increased sensitivity of image sensors to infrared light, compared to traditional film, colour casts can appear when photographing darker subjects requiring increased exposure times.
This Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Water White Natural IRND 1.2 filter is made from Water White glass for increased clarity and colour fidelity. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, polishing it flat to a tolerance of one ten-thousandth of an inch, and measures 4 mm thick.
