The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" Natural IRND 1.2 Water White Filter is an ND filter with a 16x filter factor that provides a 4-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.2 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing down your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can more easily control depth of field and express movement. Neutral density filters are designed not to affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
The design of this filter has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote an almost flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to the greater sensitivity of image sensors to infrared light, compared to traditional film, colour casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times.
This Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" Natural IRND 1.2 Water White Filter is manufactured from Water White glass for increased clarity as well as colour fidelity. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and measures 4 mm thick.
