Tiffen 49 mm NATural IRND 1.8 Filter (6 Stops)
The Tiffen 49 mm NATural IRND 1.8 filter is an ND filter with a 64x filter factor that offers a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing down your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can more easily control depth of field and convey motion. Neutral density filters are designed not to affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
This filter's design has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote near-uniform attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to the greater sensitivity of image sensors to infrared light, compared to traditional films, colour casts can occur when photographing darker subjects requiring increased exposure times.
This filter is uncoated, made from extra-clear glass for increased clarity, and features an aluminium alloy filter ring for durability whilst remaining lightweight. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
