Tiffen NATural IRND 1.5 55mm Filter (5 Stops)
The Tiffen NATural IRND 1.5 55mm Filter is an ND filter with a 32x filter factor that provides a 5-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can more easily control depth of field and convey movement. Neutral density filters are designed not to affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
This filter's design has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly uniform attenuation of both visible and infrared light. Due to the increased sensitivity of image sensors to infrared light, compared to traditional film, colour casts can occur when photographing darker subjects requiring longer exposure times.
This uncoated filter is manufactured from water white glass for enhanced clarity, and features an aluminium alloy filter ring for durability whilst remaining lightweight. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
