Tiffen 62mm NATural IRND 1.8 (6 Stops) Filter
The Tiffen 62mm NATural IRND 1.8 is an ND filter with a 64x filter factor that provides a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are designed not to affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
The design of this filter has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote near-uniform attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to the greater sensitivity of image sensors to infrared light compared to traditional film, colour casts may appear when photographing darker subjects requiring increased exposure times.
This uncoated filter is made from water white glass for increased clarity and features an aluminium alloy ring for durability whilst remaining lightweight. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, which involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
