Tiffen NATural IRND 1.8 77mm Filter (6 Stops)
The Tiffen NATural IRND 1.8 77mm filter is an ND filter with a 64x filter factor that provides a 6-stop exposure reduction. Its 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are designed not to affect image colouration and are ideal for pairing with other filters.
This filter's design has been optimised for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly uniform attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to image sensors' greater sensitivity to infrared light compared to traditional film, colour casts can appear when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times.
This filter is uncoated, constructed from clear white glass for better clarity and features an aluminium alloy filter ring for durability whilst remaining lightweight. It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
