This kit includes the following 4x4" filters: Tiffen Black Diffusion FX 1/2, Black Pro Mist 1/2, Warm Black Diffusion FX 1/4, Soft FX 1 and a soft pouch.


Black Diffusion FX Filters

Tiffen Black Diffusion/FX filters are artistic blurring filters. They are manufactured with an irregular black pattern that softens fine details, such as wrinkles and skin imperfections, whilst leaving larger details such as eyes sharp. Most Tiffen Black Diffusion/FX filters are only available in grades 3 and 5, with grade 5 having the most significant effect. This filter is particularly effective for portraits.

Tiffen FX diffusion filters are also available in a "warm" tone.


Black Pro Mist Filters

Pro-Mist filters, which are part of Tiffen's Hollywood/FX series, generally produce a light halo that appears more as a "glow" than the more extensive halo of a fog filter. By keeping the halo closer to the subject, they create an almost pearlescent halo on highlights. Available in different degrees of diffusion strength (with grade 5 having the strongest effect), the lower grades of the filter are also used to reduce excess sharpness and contrast of modern film and lens combinations without compromising the image. The Black Pro-Mist filter series also creates moderate image softening and moderate to strong highlight halation, but without as much lightening effect in shadow areas.

Both of these filters are also available in a "Warm" series which combines the Pro Mist effect with Tiffen's exclusive 812 warming filter.


Soft FX Filters

Tiffen Soft/FX filters are artistic blurring filters. They have a pattern of tiny lenses that put fine details, such as wrinkles and skin imperfections, out of focus, whilst leaving larger details such as eyes sharp. Soft/FX filters are available in most sizes in grades ranging from one-half to five, with grade 5 having the most significant softening effect. This filter is particularly effective for portrait effects with artistic blur.
