The Tiffen 4 x 4" Fog 1 filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft halo around highlights and reducing the overall contrast of the scene. A softening effect can also occur due to the interaction of light with the subject. Density 1 provides a greater fog effect than 1/2, but less than 2, and requires no exposure compensation.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that laminates the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishes it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6 mm.
