The Tiffen Fog 3 4 x 4" filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft glow around highlights and reducing the overall contrast of the scene. There may also be a softening effect due to the way light interacts with the subject. Density 3 offers a stronger fog effect than 2, but less than 4, and requires no exposure compensation.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6 mm.
