The Tiffen 4 x 4" 1/8 Low Contrast filter reduces contrast in the image by creating a small amount of controlled diffused light near highlight areas. This allows more detail to be captured in shadow areas whilst preserving highlight values, to produce an apparently lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use in midday full sun conditions and other high-contrast lighting situations where it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. The 1/8 density offers less contrast adjustment than the 1/4 density filter.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6 mm.
