The Tiffen 4 x 4" Pro-Mist 1/4 filter helps reduce the intensity of highlights whilst significantly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for smoothing and softening facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or blur filter, Pro-Mist filters cause minimal loss of detail across the entire image. The 1/4 density offers more contrast and highlight reduction than 1/8, but less than 1/2, whilst providing a soft and pastel light quality.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6 mm.
