The Tiffen Soft Contrast 2 4 x 4" glass filter reduces contrast in the opposite manner to the Low Contrast filter series. This filter absorbs light by reducing highlight areas whilst maintaining the dark appearance of shadow areas. In other words, hot spots or bright areas in the image are reduced whilst shadow areas remain dark.

Note: Soft Contrast filters are available in grades 1-5, with No. 5 having the most pronounced effect


Features:

- Results in contrast reduction
- This filter, like the Low Contrast filter, causes a slight flare or halo effect
- The Soft Contrast filter has a neutral grey appearance, which reduces exposure
- Although this may seem necessary, Tiffen does not recommend any exposure compensation as this would cancel out the filter's effect
