The Tiffen 4 x 4" Warm Black Pro-Mist 1/2 Filter helps to reduce highlight values whilst slightly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for smoothing and softening facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Whilst designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or blur filter, Pro-Mist filters cause little loss of detail in the image. Grade 1/2 provides more contrast and highlight reduction than 1/4, but less than 1, whilst maintaining a soft, pastel light quality.

This filter also combines the diffusion effect with an 812 warming filter to bring overall warmth to the image and enhance skin tones. This warming effect also helps to reduce blue sensitivity and soften overly cool tones in the scene.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6 mm.
