The Tiffen Black Satin 3 4 x 4" filter can be used to intentionally reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles.

This can prove useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject while softening highlights, reducing contrast and giving textures a smoother appearance. Additionally, a halo effect around highlights is created, which can further enhance the appearance of a subject or produce a desired effect while maintaining overall sharpness.

This filter has a grade of 3. Grades of 1/4, 1/2, 1 and 2 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number.

This filter is made from water-white glass for enhanced clarity as well as colour fidelity.

It is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
