The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Fog 1 filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft halo around highlights and reducing the overall contrast of the scene. There may also be a softening effect due to the way light interacts with the subject. Density 1 offers a stronger fog effect than 1/2, but less than 2, and requires no exposure compensation.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
