The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Fog 1/4 filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft glow around highlights and reducing the overall contrast of the scene. A softening effect can also occur due to the interaction of light with the subject. The 1/4 density provides a greater fog effect than the 1/8, but less than the 1/2, and requires no exposure compensation.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
