The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" 1 Low Contrast filter helps reduce contrast across the entire image by creating slight controlled diffusion near highlight areas. This allows more detail in shadow areas whilst preserving highlight values to produce apparently lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use in bright midday conditions and other high-contrast lighting situations where it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. Density 1 provides less contrast adjustment than density 2, but more than the 1/2 density filter.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
