The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" 1/2 Low Contrast Filter reduces contrast across the entire image by creating slight controlled diffusion near highlight areas. This allows for more detail in shadow areas whilst preserving highlight values to produce an apparently lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use in sunny midday conditions and other high-contrast situations where it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. The 1/2 density offers less contrast adjustment than density 1, but more than the 1/4 density filter.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
