The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" 2 Low Contrast Filter works to reduce contrast across the entire image by creating a small amount of controlled flare near highlight areas. This allows for more detail in shadowed regions, without affecting highlight values, to produce an apparently lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use in midday and other high-contrast lighting situations when it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. Density 2 provides less contrast adjustment than density 3, but more than the density 1 filter.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
