The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Low Contrast 3 filter reduces contrast across the entire image by creating slight controlled diffusion near highlight areas. This results in more detail in shadow areas whilst preserving highlight values to produce an apparent lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use at midday and in other high-contrast situations where it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. The density 3 offers less contrast adjustment than density 4, but more than the density 2 filter.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
