The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Soft Contrast 4 Glass Filter reduces contrast in the opposite way to the Low Contrast filter series. This filter absorbs light by reducing highlight areas whilst maintaining the dark appearance of shadow areas. In other words, the bright areas or light areas of the image are reduced whilst the shadow areas remain dark.


Note: Soft Contrast filters are available in grades 1 to 5, with No. 5 having the most significant effect


- Results in a reduction in contrast
- This filter, like the Low Contrast filter, will cause a slight amount of flare or halo
- The Soft Contrast filter has a neutral grey appearance which reduces exposure
- Whilst this may seem necessary, Tiffen does not recommend any exposure compensation as this would cancel out the effect of the filter
