This filter works by diffusing the light entering the lens through a mesh pattern, creating a gentle overall glow. The 'white' designation provides uniform diffusion and contrast reduction in the scene. Density 2 provides more softening than density 1, but less than density 3.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
