The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Softnet White 3 Filter is a softening filter designed to reproduce the effect of a silk veil placed in front of the lens to soften or diffuse light. This filter works by dispersing light entering the lens through a mesh pattern, creating an overall soft glow. The "white" designation provides uniform diffusion and contrast reduction in the scene. Density 3 offers more softening than density 2, but less than density 4.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5 mm.
