Tiffen 4x4 Double Fog 5 Filter
The Tiffen 4 x 4" Double Fog 5 filter simulates the effects of natural fog or mist by creating a soft glow around highlights and reducing the overall contrast of the scene. Compared to the standard Fog filter, this filter places greater emphasis on reducing contrast whilst maintaining sharpness and minimising flare effects. Density 5 offers the greatest fog effect and requires no exposure compensation.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6 mm.
- Produces a fog effect with a drastic reduction in overall contrast.
- Maintains greater sharpness and is less affected by light flare than the standard Fog filter.
- Density 5 offers the greatest fog effect.
- Requires no exposure compensation to account for the filter's effect.
