Tiffen 4X4 Glimmerglass 1/4
The Tiffen 4 x 4" Glimmerglass 1/4 Diffusion Filter is a unique way to give your portrait subject a sharp, fresh and flattering appearance. This creative diffusion filter offers you a graduated way of choosing the degree of filtration that will complement your subject. Whilst Glimmerglass softens fine details such as blemishes, it also adds a soft and flattering glow to the shot that brings an increased sense of glamour. Lighter grades of the filter are subtle whilst higher grades will show much more diffusion.
The filter also reduces contrast, which will soften the harshness of the shot and present your subject in a more flattering light. The main characteristic of Glimmerglass is that it produces a silvery sparkle at the front of the filter which makes your subject more confident. This sparkle adds a psychological element to the shot that makes your subject more receptive and confident that the session is going well. In this sense, Glimmerglass is as effective to look at as it is to see through.
The Glimmerglass 1/4 filter adds more diffusion whilst increasing the glow around your highlights. Contrast continues to be lowered.
Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced by a process that involves permanently laminating the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, ground flat to a tolerance of one ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounted in precision aluminium rings.

Effective and Functional
The glass itself has a distinct silvery sparkle, which has proved doubly useful as when production begins and people see the filter sparkle at the front of the lens, they become more confident knowing that the filter is working for them and they can give a better performance
- Tiffen's ColorCore glass is sealed between two sheets of optical glass. In this way, Tiffen can better control the different densities of their filters and thus create more precise degrees of filtration. This process allows greater colour accuracy compared to simply tinted glass which can be subject to deviations during the tinting process
