The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Sunset Graduated Density 2 filter is a fascinating filter. It enhances reality, adding a touch of subtlety or drama to the image. When you can't travel to the south-west for that magnificent sunset, this filter will prove very useful. Your friends will think you were on assignment for a travel magazine.
It is sometimes desirable to add colour to part of the photograph. For example, to add an orange/yellow tint to accentuate the effect and impact of the sky. Tiffen coloured graduated filters are half-coloured, half-transparent, with a gradual transition to blend into the scene. Tiffen sunset graduated filters are available in densities 1 to 3, with density 3 having the most pronounced effect.
The Sunset 2 graduated filter offers a multi-layered sunset effect with a red sky blending into orange then yellow, with the bottom of the filter remaining transparent. Version 2 increases contrast and brings more intensity to the image.
Popular applications include
- Adding colourful brilliance to a dull sky
- Modifying a specific colour in a scene to create a desired special effect
- Enhancing an existing colour or creating subtle colourful drama
- Creating a more balanced exposure in uneven lighting conditions
- Tiffen graduated filters are available in a wide range of colours
ColorCore Technology
- Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a strictly protected proprietary process that involves permanently laminating the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, polished to a tolerance of one ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounted in precision metal rings
- The ColorCore process allows Tiffen to control the colour and density of their filters, as well as the characteristics of special effects filters with precision far superior to traditional mass-dyed filters, which typically exhibit variations in colour and density
Superior Quality
- The largest Hollywood film studios trust Tiffen filters for their multi-million pound productions
- Superior quality and design make Tiffen the preferred choice of filmmakers, professional photographers and even NASA
- Tiffen has also received an Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its excellence in engineering
