The Tiffen 43mm #11 Green (1) Filter is a filter designed to enhance contrast in black and white photography. When using this filter for outdoor portraits, it will lighten skin tones and provide better separation between subject and background. For landscape photography, it helps darken the sky and lighten and show more detail in foliage. The filter has a filter factor of 4, so to compensate, you need to increase exposure by two stops.
Tiffen filters are not tinted, but are made using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then grinds and polishes the glass. The glass is then mounted to the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
