The Tiffen 82 mm Orange #16 filter is a filter designed to create contrast in black and white photography. The contrast effect will be more pronounced than the Yellow #15 when taking landscape, marine or aerial photographs in B&W. Consequently, it makes skies more dramatic and darker. The filter has a filter factor of 3, so you need to increase your exposure by 1 2/3 stops to compensate.
Tiffen filters are not tinted, but are manufactured using ColorCore technology. This process laminates the filter material between two pieces of optical glass, then the glass is polished. The glass is then mounted on the metal ring, which can then be screwed onto the lens to achieve the desired effect.
