Tiffen 40.5mm 82
A Tiffen 40.5mm Series 82 filter is a light balancing filter used to slightly increase the colour temperature to achieve a cooler tone. This blue filter absorbs excess yellow-red light from daylight in the morning. There is plenty of flattering light to be found early in the morning and late in the afternoon. With the sun low on the horizon, the red-orange end of the spectrum is enhanced. With daylight-balanced film, images taken in this light may prove a bit warm. The photographer may desire this effect or choose to “cool” things down. The 82 series of blue filters allows the photographer to maintain more natural skin tones by increasing the colour temperature to a more daylight-balanced level. Tiffen manufactures the 82 series of filters in many sizes to suit the multiple uses of this filter. This filter can be used by professionals and amateurs alike, weekend photographers or professional cinematographers, and should be considered an essential addition to any photographic arsenal. - Maintains natural skin tones; avoids reddish tints - Can create a cool atmosphere 82 Series Conversion Chart - 82A Raises temperature from 3,000 to 3,200 Kelvin (1/3 stop) - 82B Raises temperature from 2,900 to 3,060 Kelvin (2/3 stop) - 82C Raises temperature from 2,800 to 3,200 Kelvin (2/3 stop)
