The Tiffen 49mm 81C color balancing filter reduces color temperature by 400K to slightly warm up the image to match the color quality of the lighting. When using an 81C filter, you can achieve a 3200K balance when the dominant light source is 3600K. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.3 f-stop increase in exposure for normal results.
This filter is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it on precision metal rings.
