The Tiffen 55 mm 81EF light balancing filter reduces the colour temperature by 650K to slightly warm the image and match the colour quality of the lighting. By using an 81EF filter, you can achieve a balance of 3200K when the dominant light source is 3850K. The warming effect of this filter requires an exposure increase of 0.6 stops to achieve normal results.
This filter is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it on precision metal rings.
