Tiffen 58MM Soft Contrast 1
The Tiffen 58mm Soft Contrast 1 filter is a contrast reduction filter that darkens highlights whilst maintaining shadow density in a scene. The effect of a light-absorbing element in this filter is visible in the highlights without requiring a change in overall exposure. Details in bright areas are rendered more visible without a similar effect on dark areas. Tiffen Soft Contrast filters are available in numbered grades from one to five. Each higher grade corresponds to a stronger effect.
This filter is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, polishing it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it on precision metal rings.
