Tiffen 72MM Low Light Ultra Contrast 4
The Tiffen 72mm Low Light Ultra Contrast 4 Filter can be used to intentionally increase detail in shadow areas when photographing or recording video in low-light conditions. By distributing ambient lighting towards the darker areas of a scene, this filter is also useful for helping to evenly balance the tonal range between highlights and shadows. Overall contrast is reduced whilst flare and halation around highlights are intentionally limited.
This filter has a grade of 4. Grades 1, 2 and 3 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number.
This filter is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
