It is easy to understand why Black Pro-Mist filters have been so successful for over 30 years. Their unique contrast layering combined with a misty, paint-like halo works as a variation on the standard halo diffusion effect. Even at its lowest density, it produces an effective increase in halo that adds a pleasant depth of warmth without affecting skin tone values. These characteristics become more apparent when using densities of a quarter and above.
At higher densities, the diffusion is quite aggressive from practical light, with the warm tonality becoming more apparent. Yet, the subtle but effective appearance continues to make the pro mist filter a staple for many directors of photography in the digital world.
