These filters diffuse highlights, soften colours and reduce contrast, whilst maintaining rich blacks. This combination of effects is highly useful for 16mm and 35mm film, as well as HD and standard video. They are primarily style or mood-modifying filters. Depending on the grade chosen, they subtly enhance a scene without degrading image quality or black saturation. Black Frost allows cinematographers to achieve deeper blacks than with similar filters.
