The Tiffen 49mm Black Pro-Mist 1/8 filter reduces the brightness of highlights whilst slightly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for softening and reducing facial wrinkles as well as other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion filter or soft focus filter, Pro-Mist filters preserve image detail. The 1/8 density offers less contrast and highlight reduction than the 1/4 density, whilst maintaining a soft, pastel light quality.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two optical glass plates, polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it in precision metal rings.
