The Tiffen 49mm Black Pro-Mist 3 filter helps to reduce the intensity of highlights whilst slightly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for softening and reducing facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Although designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion filter or blur filter, Pro-Mist filters preserve image detail. The density 3 offers more contrast and highlight reduction than density 2, but less than density 4, whilst maintaining a soft, pastel light quality.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, polishing it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting it on precision metal rings.
