Tiffen 67MM Ultra Contrast 5
The Tiffen 67 mm Ultra Contrast 5 filter can be used to intentionally reduce contrast when taking photographs or recording video. By distributing ambient lighting towards the darker areas of a scene, this filter is useful for evenly balancing the tonal range between highlights and shadows. Detail is increased in shadow areas whilst reflections and haloes around highlights are deliberately limited.
This filter has a grade of 5. Grades 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, 3 and 4 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number.
This filter is manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and polishing it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
