The Tiffen Black Pro-Mist 4 72mm Filter helps reduce highlight values whilst slightly decreasing overall contrast. This filter is particularly useful for softening and reducing facial wrinkles and other imperfections. Whilst designed for cinematographic use, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or blur filter, Pro-Mist filters result in minimal detail loss across the entire image. The density 4 offers more contrast and highlight reduction than density 3, but less than density 5, whilst delivering a soft, pastel light quality.
Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting it onto precision metal rings.
