Tiffen 82MM Ultra Contrast 1/2
The Tiffen 82 mm Ultra Contrast 1/2 filter can be used to intentionally reduce contrast when taking photographs or recording video. By distributing ambient lighting to darker areas of a scene, this filter is useful for evenly balancing the tonal range between highlights and shadows. Detail is increased in shadow regions whilst flare and halation around highlights are intentionally limited.
This filter has a 1/2 grade. Grades of 1/8, 1/4, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are also available, with the effect of this type of filter becoming approximately twice as strong with each increase in grade number.
This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that laminates the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinds it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
