The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" 1 Low Contrast filter works to reduce contrast across the image by creating a small amount of controlled blur near highlight areas. This allows for more detail in shadow regions, without affecting highlight values, to produce an apparent lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use in midday and other high-contrast lighting situations when it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. The 1 density provides less contrast adjustment than the 2 density, but more than the 1/2 density filter.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6 mm.
