The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" 1/2 Low Contrast filter reduces image contrast by creating slight controlled diffusion near highlight areas. This results in more detail in shadow areas whilst preserving highlight values, to produce an apparently lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use at midday and in other high-contrast situations where it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. The 1/2 density offers less contrast adjustment than the density 1, but more than the 1/4 density filter.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6 mm.
