The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" 1/8 Low Contrast Filter acts to decrease contrast across the image by creating a small amount of controlled flare near highlight areas. This achieves more detail in shadow regions, without affecting highlight values, to produce an apparent lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use in midday and other high-contrast lighting situations where it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. Grade 1/8 provides less contrast adjustment than the 1/4 grade filter.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6 mm.
