The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" 2 Low Contrast filter works to reduce contrast throughout the image by creating a small amount of controlled flare near highlight areas. This allows for greater detail in shadow regions, without affecting highlight values, to produce seemingly lower contrast. This filter is ideal for use at midday and other high-contrast lighting situations when it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows. The 2 density provides less contrast adjustment than the 3 density, but more than the 1 density filter.

Tiffen filters are manufactured using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding it flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6 mm.
