The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" Soft Contrast 2 Glass Filter reduces contrast in an opposite manner to the Low Contrast filter series. This filter absorbs light by reducing highlight areas whilst maintaining the shadow area's darker appearance. In other words, the hot spots or bright areas of the image are reduced whilst the shadow areas remain dark.


Note: Soft Contrast filters are available in grades 1-5, with no. 5 having the most pronounced effect


- Results in a reduction in contrast
- This filter, like the Low Contrast filter, will cause a slight flare or halation effect
- The Soft Contrast filter has a neutral grey appearance, which reduces exposure
- Whilst this may appear necessary, Tiffen recommends no exposure compensation as this would negate the filter's effect
